Rough idle and hesitation off the line – fuel issue maybe?
I’ve been scratching my head over this for a good month now and I’m hoping someone here might have some insight before I start throwing money at the wrong things. My 2015 Cherokee has developed this annoying rough idle when I’m stopped at traffic lights, and there’s a noticeable hesitation when I press the accelerator from a standstill – almost like it’s stuttering for a split second before it catches itself and goes. I’ve already changed the spark plugs and air filter thinking that might sort it, but no luck at all. A mate of mine who knows a bit about cars suggested it could be clogged fuel injectors, especially since I mostly do short city drives and rarely get on the highway to really clear things out. I’ve seen those fuel additive bottles at the petrol station that claim to clean injectors, but I’m a bit sceptical about whether they actually do anything meaningful or just give you a placebo effect. I’d rather get it done properly by someone who knows what they’re doing, and I’ve been told that finding a genuine Jeep injector cleaning service is way safer than letting some random garage use harsh chemicals that might damage the seals or the O-rings inside. Has anyone here actually had their injectors professionally cleaned and noticed a real difference in how smooth the engine runs afterwards? I’m trying to figure out if this is likely the culprit or if I should be looking at something like the throttle body or maybe even a vacuum leak instead. Just don’t want to keep guessing and wasting time when the wife is already complaining about the car acting up every time she drives it.
