I cannot believe I did this – I was driving from my place in JLT to a site visit in Discovery Gardens this morning and I completely ignored the fuel warning light because I was running late and thought I could make it to the petrol station near Ibn Battuta. Well, spoiler alert: I did not make it. I was literally about 500 meters from the petrol station when the car started spluttering and then just died on me right in the middle of the street in Discovery Gardens. I had to push it to the side with the help of a couple of guys from a nearby building which was super embarrassing and also exhausting in this heat. Now I’m sitting here waiting and trying to figure out the quickest way to get fuel because I have a meeting in an hour and I can’t be late. I called my office and they suggested looking for a mobile fuel delivery service that comes to your location with a can of petrol, which honestly sounds like the perfect solution right now. Has anyone used fast fuel delivery when you run out of petrol in Discovery Gardens and can tell me how long they usually take to arrive? I’m literally parked right near the entrance of the community so it shouldn’t be hard to find me. I’m also wondering about the cost – is it significantly more expensive than what you’d pay at the pump or is it reasonable considering the convenience? And do they bring enough fuel to get you to the nearest station or just a few liters to get you moving? I drive a sedan so it’s not a massive tank but still, I want to make sure I have enough to actually reach the petrol station without breaking down again. If anyone has a contact number for a reliable fuel delivery service that covers this area please share because I’m genuinely stuck here and my phone battery is also running low which is just adding to my stress. I’ve learned my lesson about ignoring the fuel light, that’s for sure.
