PPF or ceramic coating – which one actually makes sense for daily driving here?
I’ve been going back and forth on this for weeks and honestly I’m no closer to a decision, because every time I talk to a detailer they seem to recommend whichever service they offer, which doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. I’ve got a new car on order and I’m trying to figure out the best way to protect it from the harsh environment here, but I’m struggling to understand whether I need paint protection film, ceramic coating, or some combination of both, and what the real-world benefits of each actually look like. From what I’ve gathered, PPF is a physical barrier that protects against stone chips and scratches, while ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds with the paint to provide chemical resistance and hydrophobic properties, but they seem to serve different purposes. I’ve seen people say that ceramic coating is great for making the car easier to clean and keeping it looking glossy, but it won’t do much against a stone strike on the highway, whereas PPF will actually absorb that impact but it doesn’t offer the same level of slickness and water beading . I’ve also read that the two can be combined, with some people applying PPF to the high-impact areas and then ceramic coating over the entire car to get the best of both worlds, but that’s obviously a serious investment. I was looking at a comparison that covered PPF versus ceramic coating in UAE choosing the right protection for your car, and it broke down the pros and cons pretty clearly, but I’d still like to hear from people who’ve actually lived with either option. Has anyone here gone with just ceramic coating and regretted not getting PPF after a stone chip, or conversely, gone with PPF and wished they had the hydrophobic properties of a ceramic coating on top? Any honest feedback from people who’ve been through this would be massively helpful because I need to make a decision soon and I’m completely torn.
